What the Digital Divide means to communities is, they will face major challenges in their work, education and socially. They are cut off from opportunities that are readily available to their counterparts in urban areas, who view the internet more as a luxury and not a privilege.

It is against that background that one of our core programs aims to skill youth in less privileged situations with skills that open them up to a world of opportunities.

With a comprehensive Digital Training in areas outside the major cities, for example, our contribution to this cause will be well underway. For this to be a success, DLI will organize trainings, workshops, seminars, make access to information a reality, and offer general IT Education in target areas determined by our team and partners.

We are not unaware of the existing challenges widening the Rural-Urban Digital Divide, like; the underprivileged lacking access to training materials, qualified instructors, and the gadgets needed to practice acquired skills. That, coupled with the fact that some of the areas are the epitome of the darkness that covers the continent due to a lack of electricity reaching their areas. For such, challenges, our involvement in influencing and fostering conversation at the highest levels of leadership and with key stake-holders and decision makers, will aim to improve that.

Our integrated approach to finding solutions, together with the more targeted Digital Skills Programme will yield fruits. 

In Uganda, for example, where we are based, there is a move to bridge the digital divide among the Ghetto Youth in slums, as well as in rural areas. The government and stakeholders are waking up to this need and we MUST play a big role as one of the organizations making a huge contribution to the success story, not only in the East African nation of Uganda, but spread our wings to Africa as a whole.
